Meet Todd: Senior Benefits Consultant at Maddock & Associates

 

Todd is one of the out-in-the-field faces of Maddock & Associates, helping employers navigate employee benefits with strategy, experience, and a practical understanding of what it takes to run a business.

 

His start in employee benefits happened somewhat by accident. A recruiter set him up with an interview at Paychex, and the role happened to be in the 401(k) space. That opportunity became his introduction to employee benefits and eventually led to a long career helping businesses think through the programs, tools, and support they offer their teams.

 

Before joining Maddock, Todd spent 16 years at Paychex. He worked for four years as a territory sales representative before moving into leadership, where he spent the remainder of his time as a district sales manager. That background gave him a strong foundation in sales strategy, client relationships, business operations, and employer needs.

 

Todd’s approach to serving clients has also been shaped by his personal background. Many members of his family have been small businessowners, and his dad was an independent State Farm agent for many years. Through that, Todd learned the importance of hard work, customer care, and showing up for people who are trusting you with important decisions.

 

As a Senior Benefits Consultant, Todd enjoys the consultative and strategic nature of the work. Employee benefits are not one-size-fits-all, and he appreciates that the role requires thoughtful planning, problem solving, and staying ahead of the issues that matter to employers and employees.

 

One of Todd’s favorite parts of the work is helping companies find solutions that benefit both the business and the people who work there. He finds it rewarding to support employers as they make decisions that can have a meaningful impact on their teams.

 

Todd describes his client relationships as personal and intentional. He likes to get to know each client as much as possible, especially what drove them to go into business for themselves. He also wants to understand what is keeping them up at night, what is creating stress, and where the right benefits strategy may help bring clarity or relief.

One thing Todd wishes more people understood about benefits is that brokers do not set insurance rates or increases, and they do not deny claims. Their role is to help clients understand the landscape, evaluate options, solve problems, and advocate where they can.

 

Todd brings both experience and genuine curiosity to his work. He enjoys getting to know people, helping them solve problems, and bringing a depth of knowledge to the table.

Outside of work, Todd enjoys playing golf, getting together with friends for barbecues, going to ball games, and spending time with his family. Seeing or talking to his kids always makes his day better, as does coming home to his dog.

 

At home, Todd and his family share life with Gemma, their dog, and Poe, their cat. Both are fully part of the family, complete with couch privileges, bed privileges, lots of love, and plenty of laughs.

And when it comes to a favorite cheat meal, Todd keeps it classic: a great burger and fries.
